Field Trip 2008

All of these were taken in Ottawa on October 17, 2008. A friend and I took the day to wander through downtown taking pictures. I didn't do downtown justice in the slightest, of course, but still, at least I got a few decent shots out of it, and I learned a lot about how to set up some scenes.

This looks like a great place to be

Taken during my trip to Ocean City last summer to hang out with some Internet friends. I originally wasn't particularly impressed with this shot, then I looked at it again recently and went "Hey, with a bit of cropping and colour correction, that could be a heck of a photo." And it turned out I was right. So there you go.

Refreshing!

I noticed these at the store yesterday and had to buy some. My grandfather always had some around when I was a kid, so I figured I'd give in to nostalgia. Before letting Andrea drink her Lime Ricky, I insisted on taking a few pictures, really just for practice. I thought this one looked refreshing enough to want to post. So there you go. Yummy, delicious pop.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have a black cherry cola calling to me...

One ring to rule them all

Mostly just playing with my macro lens.

The life

Someone's home or cottage at Mahone Bay. The original was pretty hazy (it was taken with a 300mm lens across a hazy bay) and the colours weren't great, so it took some pretty significant messing around with levels and contrast and masks and all that stuff to get it this clear. I think I'm happy with the final result.

Portrait of a cutie

I think this is the best portrait I've been able to get so far of Andrea... Still not thrilled with it.

Pretty in pink!

There are some absolutely beautiful trees outside my office building full of these lovely pink flowers. I should have gone out yesterday to get pictures, but since I didn't have my camera, I had to wait til today. The flowers are still nice, but you can see that they're already starting to die. Still beautiful.
